Wiltshire pensioner June Turnbull, 79, who has volutarily turned a village flowerbed into a work of art has come to the attention of Wiltshire's Health and Safety inspectors when a highways inspector saw her at work and “reported her”.
She has been informed that she poses a health and safety risk, and has been ordered to stay away from the flowerbed she has grown herself, at her own expense, until she complies with the H & S requirements. June cannot do any more work on the flower bed unless she errects three warning signs, recruits a “lookout” and both must wear a flourescent yellow jacket. Mrs Turnbull, who is registered disabled, said” They can send me to jail if they like. I just want to be left alone.”
